practice makes people
I don't know what to say. There is a despair and anger and uncertainty swirling around us and through us. I don't want to repeat this or deny it.
I recently listened to a podcast on "bridging individual and collective healing through embodiment.' The conversation was neither comforting nor full of despair. It felt true and complicated.
The whole episode is very much worth a listen, but here is what I wanted to share for today. The guest, Prentis Hemphill says:
We're always trying to maintain connection end up practicing what our conditions dictate in order to be safe...Let's re-examine what we've been practicing, what we've been getting good at and who and what does it serve? Does it serve connection? Healing? Fear?
Yes, we are constantly practicing something; making certain grooves - both inside and outside of us - deeper. We are doing this always: online, at work, with friends, with partners, with our children, in our own thoughts and hearts.
So my questions today are:
What is one thing that you've been practicing that is cultivating goodness or serving you well?
And what is one that thing that you've been practicing that has been doing the opposite?
We all do both, especially when we feel unsafe.
Practice reaching out and let me know.
